San Francisco Gay Pride

The Twin Peaks of San Francisco are the highest points in the City and they overlook the famous Castro District.  At the center of this queer district is the Twin Peaks Tavern, located at the intersection of Castro, Market and 17th St.. Two women opened the Twin PeaksTavern in 1972 and it is now owned by two long time employees and their life partners.  It broke a long history of dark and secretive Gay bars and emerged as the country’s first ground level gay bar to have very large clear glass windows, during this month of Gay Pride 2004 ten beautiful stained glass panels are being displayed in these historical windows.
